Hey, i was prompted to post the computer specs i was going to be buying soon on here, hopefully to save me from doing something bad.
I thought that this was pretty good and reasonable. What do you guys think - Heres the link:
http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/systems.aspx?sysid=192580.
Tell me if you cannot view the contents of that link - I'll try and get a list for you.

NAh can only see the main page.

Go here and buy

http://www.scan.co.uk

It's about 10% cheaper than the site you listed.

Also Blitz if you could let us know if you'd be using the machine for things like Photoshop more than gaming, or if it just for gaming that would help.

I know you're thinking SLI, but at the moment if you really want to buy two graphic cards you should get a couple of ATI's, maybe the 5850's

Although if you have enough money to buy to Graphic cards you'd be better of buying on ATI HD 5970 OC.

CPU wise, you shoudl still be looking only at Intels as AMD's just don't cut the mustard. Something like a i7-930 is great CPU or if your loaded a i7-980X is the best.

Ramm must be DDR3 and a motherboard obviously to support that and the chip you get, but we discuss that in more detail when you put your spec up.

Okay £650 is tight for an i7. Even the 930.

What parts do you have already that you can cannibalize from your old PC.

The more we can use from the old the better we can go on the new.

Example:

Do you have Monitor, keyboard, Mouse and are they digital (monitor) and USB connectors?

Do you have reasonable ATX tower case?

Do you have a DVDrom drive?

Do you have an Operating System (legal copy)or will you need to get one?

What PSU is in your current system? Is it modular (detachable cables)?

Beyond that I'm thinking the rest would definitely need to be changed.

Once we know the above we can start specing out.

As aside note for Johnny:

Wouldn't it be great, the day we get someone who comes to the forum and say's "I need to spec out a PC and my budget is £8,000!!!!" Wink

Well maybe not get the I7 - I do have an good case, but it's cracked so i am in need of another one, the DVD Drive is alright - Still works, and the power unit is ok, but pretty old, it was used for when i re-made the system i've got so i prefer to replace incase it fucks up new motherboard or something Sad

So a whole revamp, doesn't matter about I7, can be older processor - Just a good PC so i can use throughout the next year or so for gaming.

So do you have a monitor then and a Keyboard and Mouse?

This is straight out of Custom PC, so not my creation but apparently it quite slick once you give it a little overclock.

If you need a monitor

Something like this for £125

http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?id=33385

PC specs all off Scan. So total price £675.

f you need a keyboard and mouse, a MS Sidewinder X4 and a Logitech G5 orG500 is another £75ish.
